What is a Doula?

By definition, according to AmericanPregnancy.org "The word Doula is a Greek word meaning women’s servant." You may notice throughout this website you'll see "Birth sista" and "Maternal Support Practitioner", all of which mean the same thing, Doula.

A Certifying or certified doula, supports women and families of every background and belief system to support their personal birth desires and wishes regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or socioeconomic status.
